
Nv040212’s IT consultant seems to think that it is the C5150n that is faulty and this has to be regarded as certainly true since even if the data is altered on the Vostro in some manner, it appears to interact fine with everything else on the network except the OKI C5150n. And the Wireless-G card that I placed in the Vostro ensured that only data-no possible power fluctuation as suggested by an OKI technician-was being sent to the C5150n, so there has to be some data/signal alteration occurring when the ICH or some other piece of Vostro hardware/software interacts with whichever NIC is enabled on the Vostro. I don’t know everything there is to know about computers, but the PCI NIC that I tested-and which promptly failed in the Vostro WinXP system-worked flawlessly without any setting changes on my old WinXP system. I was leaning toward the problem being Dell’s decision to use a non-Intel I/O Controller Hub (ICH) with the Intel G33 Express Chipset.

With the above adjustments, once any of the three tested network cards was enabled AND acquired access to the network, anywhere from 1 to 30 minutes afterward the OKI printer locked up and began displaying the same exact error message, “002: FATAL ERROR 01F6E018, 01F6DFB4, 01F64998.” On that rare occasion that it does exceed the 30 minute limit-and I did have it make it through the night once-rebooting the computer will cause the error to reoccur.
